The Lady Flashes Track squad had a solid showing at the Shelbyville Sectional finishing 3rd overall. The night began with the 4×800 relay team of Jada Reedus, Bri Lawson, Audrey Comastri, and Olivia Camp earning a Sectional title winning by 5 seconds. That performance was followed up by a stellar 1-2 finish in the 800 by Jada Reedus(1st) and Audrey Comastri(2nd). Freshman Bri Lawson built a commanding lead in the 3200 and went on to cruise to the win, earning her 2nd Sectional title of the night.
But the biggest fireworks came for Cassie Evans in the discus. Evans won easily, but did so with a record-setting throw of 141-feet 6-inches. That mark set a NEW SCHOOL RECORD beating the previous mark of 138-feet by TeTe Hill in 2008. Evans’ throw was also a Sectional meet record as well!
Runner-up finishes came from Grace Robb in the pole vault, Emma Coney in the 300 hurdles, and Audrey Comastri in the 800.
The Lady Flashes are next in action next Tuesday May 22nd at Shelbyille for the IHSAA Regional where they will attempt to qualify for the State Championships.
